Our signature event, the Jack to Jack Yacht Race (J2J), occurs every spring on Sonoma Creek, when historically, the water level is at its highest. In 2019, the race took place in Glen Ellen, from the Jack London Lodge, Creekside, to the Jack London Village, Creekside, a .7 mile course. The boats are replicas of Jack London's SNARK.
There are several heats during the day. Winners from each heat participate in the final race to determine the year's winner.
During the race, there were various activities, including transport between the Lodge and the Village, entertainment, food and wine. Cameras placed along the creek banks enabled spectators to watch the race live from screens at major venues.
A member can purchase their own boat and dinghy or join together with friends or sponsors to purchase a boat.
Proceeds from the JLYC go back to the community in the form of grants. Local nonprofits and public entities obtain grant forms on the JLYC website. Grant applications can be downloaded from this website and are posted in May. Go to our Grants page.
